جيل كارول الإفراج عنها

القاهرة في 19 يناير 2005 ، ناشدت اليوم ثمانية منظمات حقوقية مصرية خاطفي الصحفية الأمريكية جيل كارول ،والتي تعمل لصالح جريدة "ـ كرستيان ساينس مونيتور" الإفراج عنها ، وإطلاق سراحها .
وكانت الصحفية الأمريكية وهي صحفية حرة تعمل في بغداد ، قد عرف عنها التعاطف الشديد مع الشعب العراقي في كل ما يعانيه منذ الحرب والاحتلال ، مراعية لحرمة الشعب العراقي وتقاليده الإسلامية والعربية ، مما تمثل في ارتداءها الزي الإسلامي ، وكأنها تبلغ الشعب العراقي بأنها تعرف التقاليد الإسلامية و أنها تحترم هذه التقاليد وتقدرها .
وقد اختطفت كارول يوم السابع من شهر يناير الجاري في حي العدل ببغداد ، أثناء توجهها لإجراء لقاء صحفي مع قادة سياسيين هناك .
و المنظمات الحقوقية المصرية الموقعة على هذا النداء وهي تتمنى أن تصل مناشدتهم إلى خاطفي كارول ، فهم يرجونهم إطلاق سراحها والإفراج عنها ، كبادرة طيبة وحفاظا على حياة الصحفية التي تحظى باحترام الجميع ، لاسيما وأن جريدة كرستيان ساينس مونيتور نفسها ، قد عهد عنها الموضوعية والجدية التي في تغطية الأخبار من العراق ، فضلا عن أنها قد حصلت على سبعة جوائز بوليتزر للصحافة، منها جائزة لتكريم الصحيفة على الدور الذي قامت به في كشف فضيحة المجزرة التي ارتكبت في حق آلاف المسلمين البوسنيين في صربرنيتشا .
و مثلما تناشد المنظمات الحقوقية الموقعة على هذا البيان ، خاطفي جيل كارول بالإفراج عنها ، فهي تناشد كافة المجموعات العراقية ، بعدم الزج بالصحفيين في الصراع الدائر بالعراق ،والحفاظ على حياتهم .

Cairo, 19 January 2006, Eight Egyptian human rights organisation demanded abductors of the American journalist, Jill Carol, working for the Christian Science Monitor, to release her.
The American free lance journalist is known for her extreme sympathy towards the Iraqi people and opposition to their suffering since the breaking out of the war and the invasion of Iraq. Her respect to Iraqi, Arab and Islamic norms and traditions has been reflected in her choice of clothing sending a message to the Iraqi people that she is aware of and appreciates these traditions.
Carroll was abducted on 7 January 2006 in al-Adl district, Baghdad, while she was on her way to interview politician leaders there.
The signatory Egyptian human rights organisations hope that their appeal will reach Carroll's abductors. They plead for her release as a sign of their good intentions and in respect to a journalist highly respected by all. In addition, the Christian Science Monitor has been known for its objectivity and seriously in covering Iraq. The publication has won 7 Pulitzer prizes, including an honorary prize for revealing the massacre that was committed against thousands of Bosnian Mulsims by Serbia.
At the same time, the signatory organisations are beseeching all Iraqi groups to not include journalists in a conflict in Iraq and to work on protecting their lives.
