ضربة قاسية لحرية الصحافة في مصر جريدة الأهرام تستخدم فلتر لحجب مواقع الانترنت القاهرة في 8 أغسطس 2006 في إجراء ينتهك حرية الصحافة وحق تداول المعلومات ، قامت جريدة الأهرام بتركيب فلتر يحجب المواقع التي تعترض عليها الجريدة عن الصحفيين داخل شبكة مؤسسة الأهرام ، والتي تخدم نحو خمسة عشر ألف موظف ، ضمنهم حوالي ألفي صحفي. وقد أعلن العديد من صحفيي الأهرام ، وهي اكبر مؤسسة صحفية في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، عن بالغ قلقهم من هذا الإجراء الذي حد من إمكانياتهم في تصفح العديد من المواقع التي يأتي على رأسها المدونات التابعة لمحرك البحث الشهير "جوجول - www.blogger.com" ، كما أعلنوا عن خشيتهم لأن يمتد الحجب ليطال مواقع أخرى لا ترضى عنها إدارة مؤسسة الأهرام . وقال جمال عيد المدير التنفيذي للشبكة العربية لمعلومات حقوق الإنسان " هذا إجراء خطير و خاطئ تماما ، خاصة حين تمارسه مؤسسة صحفية مثل الأهرام ، إنه يتنافي مع الدور المفترض أن تقوم به ، ونتمنى أن يتم التراجع عنه وتصحيحه دفاعا عن حرية الصحافة وحق الصحفيين في تداول المعلومات" مرفق صورة توضح الرسالة التي تظهر حين يحاول احد الصحفيين تصفح أحد المواقع المحجوبة.  |

In a procedure violating press freedom and the right to exchange information, Al-Ahram newspaper, the largest press foundation in the Middle East and North Africa, installed a filter to block websites that the newspaper find unfit fro journalists to browse while on Al-Ahram internal network, which serves nearly 15 thousand staff members, including around 2 thousand journalists.
Several Al-Ahram journalists expressed their concert towards such a procedure that restricts their capability to browse several websites, in particular blogs affiliated to google (www.blogger.com). Journalists also expressed their fear that blocking websites will expand to include all websites that the Al-Ahram administration might not see fit.
"This is a serious and erroneous procedure, especially when it is practiced by a press foundation such as Al-Ahram. Such an action is in contradiction with the supposed role of the foundation," Gamal Eid, Executive Director of the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (HRinfo), said. "We hope that the foundation will correct this procedure and uphold press freedom and the right of journalists to exchange information," he added.
