Saddam trial adjourned until July 24 31 minutes ago
BAGHDAD (AFP) - The trial of ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein on charges of crimes against humanity has been adjourned until July 24 following closing defense arguments for the four minor defendants.
Saddam and his close associates, together with their defense teams, boycotted the session for the second straight day, prompting a warning to lawyers from presiding judge Rauf Abdel Rahman.
"Tell your colleagues who are out of the country that if they do not show up next time, they will hurt the case of their clients," he said.
"The trial will go on with or without them, it will be with court-appointed lawyers if we have to."
