Bahrain

Bahrain Center for Human Rights issued two statements, this week. The first statement deals with The Sectarian policy in Bahraini security and military institutions. Non-Bahraini citizens are used in Special Security Forces which uses its powers severely against citizens participating in rallies, strikes, demonstrations, etc. The other statement, they expressed their fears that the insistency of government on electronic voting will allow forgery by covering the participations of almost 15-20 thousands Saudi Arabian nationals without their actual existence in Bahrain.

Tunisia
========
Eight Tunisian civil society organizations issued a statement condemning the tyrant aggression on Lebanon and Palestine that led to the murder of thousands of children and women. They also denounced the US support to Israel in such actions, and the silence of Arab governments which reflects their collusion with the current aggression under the slogan of "rationalism and self-determination". The statement condemned the suppressive practices against strivers and demonstrators representing civil society in Tunisia seeking to express their solidarity with peoples afflicted with disasters.
The political striver Hmaddi Al-Gebaly was to be present before investigator judge. However, he insisted on having his right to allow his lawyer to review his file to prepare for defense. So did Wahida Al-Trabulsi whose lawyer offered a medical certificate proving that she is unable to leave her bed.
Tunisian Association for Democratic Women and Tunisian Association for Women Seeking Development shall hold a press conference on "Equality in Inheritance" within the efforts exerted by both associations since the year 2000 to call for equality in inheritance.

Saudi Arabia

Peace and Freedom Coalition organization handled the topic of arresting the Saudi writer and researcher Wagiha Huaider. She is suffering harassments since 2003. She was prohibited to publish her work at any media channel upon the resolution of Ministry of Information.
Human Rights First association condemned the arrest of "Ali-Ullah Ben Hassan Al-Fanis" despite his bad health state due to failing to provide his marriage contract to court upon judge's request. He was meant to be separated from his wife in accordance with hateful sectarian measures.

Syria

Despite the major incidents taking place in Arab region; particularly in Syria under the current war in Lebanon; Syrian authorities are still suppressing liberties. They issued a resolution to liquidate Prisoners Care Association in Tartos. The citizen Omran Al-Iliwy from "Ain El-Arab" was also arrested. Joel Bisol; the private deputy of FP news agency was forced out country. Aktham Neissa and his wife were called by State Security branch in Ladikia to investigate with them the report written by an informant on them.
In respect with Human Rights organizations' follow-ups in Lebanon; Arabic Organization for Human Rights in Syria provided more proofs that Israel uses new weapons which are internationally prohibited. Syria Women Association called upon media institutions and satellite channels for not to participate in smearing survivors! The neutral reflections are so satisfying! Respecting The Human whether alive or dead regardless political considerations is an integral part of the media message.

The Israeli massacres still taking place everywhere in Palestine in addition to the miserable life circumstances suffered by Palestinians where the main topics handled by Palestinian human rights organizations.
Dr. Aziz El-Dwik; Legislative Council Chairman was arrested by Israeli occupation. Palestinian human rights organizations regarded this as a restriction to democracy in Palestine and disregarding international values and conventions.
Mada center issued its monthly report on the violations of occupation authorities against media and media staff.

Egypt
========
The Lebanese and Palestinian situations are the main topic handled by human rights organizations.
Political and Legal experts and human rights organizations', parties' and professional syndicates' representatives are forming an Arab Body to trial Israeli war criminals and to document a special file on such crimes in both Palestine and Lebanon. A member form AHRLA organization traveled to Beirut with the first delegation of Arab organizations to express solidarity with Lebanese people and non-governmental organizations.
The mission of the delegation is to identify emergency needs of respective organizations and providing them to Arab and International organizations. They seek also to pave the way for Fact-Finding mission aiming to collect information on war crimes committed against civilians and the destruction of infrastructures in Lebanon. Lebanese-Arab cooperation shall be established to raise claims against Israeli officials.
Commenting on the workshop organized by The National Council for Human Rights; The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights believes that eliminating "Religion Box" in National ID card is a step forward aiming to respect the privacy of personal religious beliefs. The state should not consider religion in dealing with citizens.

Moroccan Association for Human Rights held many events in different places in Morocco to condemn aggressive carnages by Israel against Lebanon and Palestine.
The same association issued two statements on kidnapping a citizen from his work office and detaining another citizen for no reason and torturing him because he was setting before his own house.

International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Center called upon UN Secretary General, Arab League Secretary General, world Leaders, Islamic Congress, Non-Alignment Nations, human rights organizations, civil society organizations and all peoples loving peace to stop the war and to condemn the non-humanitarian practices of war criminals. It also insisted on activating dialogue and peaceful solutions of tension vocals in the region.

From the report of Amnesty International on Lebanon: Dead people found in their homes in different villages. The odor of rotten bodies is unbearable. Dogs are eating dead bodies every where. Large families were completely killed. A naked woman digs the wreckage with her hands and prays to find her sister under a destroyed house.
54 Arab human rights organizations from inside and outside the Arab world are sending a message to Kofi Annan to express their fears towards Security Council report under US pressure to award Israeli violators.

Humum updates

From the grievances of people posted at Humum website launched by The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information we choose the following complaint:
An Egyptian citizen took his wife to Lebanon square to buy some sandwiches from a junk food store. While stopping by the restaurant, a car of two Saudi young men stopped near them. Once he got out of the care, they attacked his wife and she cried. So her husband came back and fought them. One of the two young men brought a dagger from their car. While fighting one of the young men fell on earth with the dagger in his hand. So he killed himself.
The policemen arrested both couples and the other Saudi Youngman. In the police station, they forced the Egyptian man to write a confession that he is the killer. That is because the Saudi young man is the son of the Saudi ambassador in Egypt. Many eye-witnesses said that the man is innocent, but their witnesses are of no value for security forces. That is not all. The state security forced the woman to sign a confession that she is a professional whore. Both Egyptian wife and husband are still detained.
